My journey so far in getting debt free…
The reason I am working towards becoming debt free is so I can build healthy money habits. I don’t want to bring this debt into a marriage, when that day comes. I want to be better with my money and learn to stay on budget. This will help me in the long run.
I am making my way. I didn’t really get started until this month. In the Fall I really took the step but then the Christmas season came. I ended up not having any extra money due to buying gifts. But next year will be different. I am going to save up and stick to a budget.
So early Fall I paid off my iPad and now I am working at paying off my personal loan. I am getting closer and closer. With every passing week, I see the number go down further and further. I am making myself put the extra money on even if I wasn’t sure I’d have enough to get by. But you know what? I always have enough. By the Grace of God. On this personal loan, I only owe another $700 and should have that paid off by the end of March. YAY!
Once that is paid I can move on to paying my insurance off for the year. My car insurance is coming up for renewal in April, which I will pay it off in 2 months like I usually do, that way I don’t have to worry about it for the year. It makes it less stressful. Come May my insurance will be paid off and then I can move on to paying off my student loans. I only have about $3400 left on my student loans and I can’t wait to finally have them paid off. Its been a long 11 years but I am so thankful that I am close to paying them off. What a relief this will be?
While I am putting extra money on my personal loan I am making minimum payments on everything else. The money I am putting towards my loan now will then be put the towards my student loans. This way things gets paid off quicker and I can use that money for the next thing.
I am super excited to have this debt gone and I should be all paid off by the end of summer!!! And I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Also I am going to keep an emergency fund, for those unforeseen hiccups that might occur.
Thanks for joining me on my journey of becoming debt free and having financial freedom.
