Pray a courageous prayer. Ask God to show you one distraction you could distance yourself from to more fully embrace an awareness of Him. Is it Facebook? Eating unhealthy foods? Soda? Needing attention from another person? A material possession? Whatever it is, choose a day next week to spend fasting from your distraction.

I read this post by Lysa on Facebook and right away I knew I needed to do this. I am easily distracted by pretty much everything she listed. This happens all the time and I need to make a change. My focus isn’t always on my relationship with the heavenly Father but rather on this of this earth. Things that are unimportant.
So every Wednesday I am going to fast from my distractions. Everything from television, netflix, iPhone (email, social media & anything else that I use on my phone), and eating junk.
I will replace television/netflix/iPhone with spending time in the scriptures, reading a book and taking time to pray.
I will replace eating junk with eating a healthier alternatives with lunch, supper and snacks.
By doing this it will bring me closer to hearing and knowing God more. Something we should all long for. Fasting won’t just give me spiritual health but physical health as well.
That is why the lord says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning.
It is never too late to turn to God, he is always there but we need to give ourselves up to him. Allow him to work in our lives.
